  • Aftercare instructions for piercings
During piercing, a deep wound is created that takes time to heal. How quickly this wound heals depends on the location of the piercing, the type of metal, the skill of the piercer and the quality of the aftercare. If you take good care of the piercing, it will take 4 to 12 weeks for the wound to heal. Wash the piercing (with the exception of a tongue, lip or mouth piercing) twice a day while it is healing with a mild unscented soap. Sterile saline solution can also be used. Then pat it dry with a clean towel or tissue. Keep the piercing as dry as possible for the rest of the day. During the healing process, pay attention to the following: • Touch the piercing as little as possible. • Do not apply ointment to the wound or drip disinfectants such as Sterilon or Betadine (unless a doctor tells you otherwise). • Do not allow hair spray, gel or other products to come near an ear piercing. • Do not wear plasters over the piercing (only temporarily during exercise). • Do not wear tight or dirty clothing over the piercing. • Avoid hot tubs, swimming pools, saunas and steam baths. • Never remove the piercing yourself. Also pay attention to the following with an oral piercing: • Avoid kissing and oral sex during the healing process. • Brush the teeth regularly, preferably with a saline-based toothpaste, and if necessary use a chlorhexidine solution-based mouthwash. Tongue piercings: • It can swell up a lot at the first 3-5 days, that’s why we use the long (22 mm) barbell. After if it has totally healed (4-6 weeks), you should change it for a standard, smaller piece - usually 16 mm. • Do not play with it, do not chew it. Don’t eat or drink milk products, spicy, hot, acidic, crunchy food for two weeks. • Don’t drink alcohol or give oral sex for two weeks. • If possible, please don’t smoke during the healing time. If you can’t stand it, use mouthwash after each cigarette. • Consume liquid or soft foods for the first two weeks. • Brush your teeth three times a day and use alcohol-free mouthwash after every meal. Also pay attention to the following with a genital piercing: • Drink a glass of water about one hour before cleaning your genital piercing. This way you can pee out soap residue faster after washing. Soap in the urethra can cause a bladder infection. • Always protect genital piercings during sexual contact with an extra strong condom (e.g. a condom for anal sex) or a dental dam. Preferably have no sexual contact during the healing process. Please note: the skin around your piercing can become red and swell considerably immediately after the piercing. This is normal. But contact your doctor if: • you are concerned about the healing; • you become ill or develop a fever within a few days after getting the piercing; • physical complaints such as itching and redness have not decreased within 48 hours after application; • you suddenly develop new complaints 24 hours after installation, or the complaints worsen; • you want to remove the piercing during the healing process (for example due to complaints or symptoms of regrowth or rejection).
  • Aftercare instructions for tattoos
    - Do not take a bath, swim or sauna until your tattoo has healed. (This will take months, but it is mandatory to take special care of your tattoo in the first 4 weeks.) - Keep out of direct sunlight for 2 months. If this does not work, you can provide the tattoo with a sunscreen with a high protection factor after healing. - Always wear clean clothing over the tattoo during healing. - Do not touch the tattoo and do not scratch it if it itches or skin is slightly peeling.. - Do not use (skin) disinfectants as these can prevent proper healing.
  • Tattoo aftercare by using household foil/sterile gauze.
Your artist finished your tattoo and added an ointment that is covered with household foil or sterile gauze. You have to remove it after a few hours and continue the cleaning yourself. After removing the foil or sterile gauze, follow the following aftercare instructions: - Always wash your hands before touching the foil or sterile gauze. You do this with a hypoallergenic, mild soap (pump bottle preferably, not a bar of soap). - Carefully remove the foil or sterile gauze and immediately throw it in the trash. Do you have ink or aftercare ointment on your hands? Then wash it again. - Always rinse the soap carefully but thoroughly. - Dry the tattoo by dabbing with clean kitchen paper, a soft cloth that does not leave lint, or let it air dry. - After drying the tattoo, apply on (with clean hands) a hypoallergenic aftercare ointment recommended by your tattoo artist. - After this, provide the tattoo with a clean piece of cling film again, do not use the first part of the film directly on the wound. - Repeat previous steps 2-3 times a day (including for the nights) for at least 3 days continuously. This will allow the tattoo to heal with a soft, slow-peeling layer of skin with less chance of scabbing. - After the three days, the use of foil is no longer necessary. Wash and lubricate the tattoo two to three times a day until the skin has recovered (average 2 to 3 weeks). Make sure you always have clean hands and that the tattoo does not dry out during healing. Often apply thin layers of aftercare ointment. Contact us if you have any questions or concerns. Follow the advice of your tattoo artist above anyone else.
  • Tattoo aftercare instructions for Second Skin
Your new tattoo has been provided with a second skin film (polyurethane foil) by the tattoo artist. The second skin can remain in place for 3 to 5 days. The polyurethane foil/second skin creates an ideal wound climate for optimal healing. Follow further the aftercare instructions: - Always wash your hands before touching the second skin or the tattoo. You do this with a hypoallergenic, mild soap (pump bottle, not a bar of soap). - After 3 to 5 days, carefully remove the second skin and then wash the tattoo with hypoallergenic, mild soap. - Dry the tattoo by dabbing with clean kitchen paper, a soft cloth that does not leave lint, or let it air dry. - After drying the tattoo, apply on (with clean hands) a hypoallergenic aftercare ointment recommended by your tattoo artist. - The tattoo does not need to be covered with second skin further. - Repeat the process of washing and applying the tattoo two to three times a day until the skin has healed (2 to 3 weeks on average). Make sure you always have clean hands and that the tattoo does not dry out during healing. Often apply thin layers of aftercare ointment. Contact us if you have any questions or concerns. Follow the advice of your tattoo artist above anyone else.
  • Does getting a tattoo hurt?
In short, yes. The level of pain can vary based on the location of the tattoo or the tolerance of the client. In general, most people describes getting tattooed as a scratchy, uncomfortable feeling than painful, so no worries.
  • Do you work hygienically?
Absolutely. Dream Clinic is in possession of a GGD permit and works fully in accordance with the national guidelines for safe tattooing and piercing. We also follow all relevant requirements in the usage of compliant materials.
  • What styles of tattooing do you do?
In our gallery you can see examples of our works. We provide quality tattoos in realistic, black and white, old school, new school and geometric styles, but upon request we can also fulfill other wishes, like trash-polka, ignorant or any special demands. Our artists can cover a wide range of of styles, though if we find a design unfitting to our skills, we will decline the request - for everyone's best interest.
  • How can I prepare myself for getting a tattoo?
Most importantly: get enough sleep before the session and eat before arriving. You can also bring some food or drink that contains sugar. Wear loose clothing if needed. (You don't have to shave the area that will be tattooed.) Do not use drugs or alcohol 24 hours before getting tattooed! Don't sunbathe or use tanning beds 1-2 weeks before getting inked. If you feel sick or you are under medical treatment, consult us and also inform us if you take any kind of medications.

Consultations are necessary, but completely free. During the consultation we can discuss the design and you can place the deposit - that is the way to have an official appointment booked. You can reschedule your appointment, however we expect you to let us know about the reschedule at least 24 hours earlier. Otherwise you may lose your deposit. For piercings you don't need to have an appointment or place a deposit.
  • When can I see the design for my tattoo?
Our artists will have your design ready on the day of the booked appointment. Before the session you will go through the details and the process itself, also minor changes can be done if necessary. We prefer to show and discuss the design in person at first hand.
